What types of fresh water fish make good Incoming Tiny Aquarium?
Hello! Maybe I'm looking to put about 4 smallish fish in a tank of 2.5 or 3 per gallon, its a small desktop aquarium for my boyfriend. That will be a surprise and I know that fish are the best before I just going for them. Thanks!
While Neon Tetras are small, requiring that schools in at least 5 to be safe and healthy, and also, they need swimming area, which can not be provided in the tank so small. Danios are very active in such a small tank that routinely run on the walls, often injuring themselves. Danios are ALSO school, making them even more unacceptable. Really, the only fish that could be kept would have a Betta or a chocolate Gourami, but even better that would be a little freshwater shrimp. Cherry Shrimp, Ghost Shrimp, Amano / Japonica Shrimp, Orange Bee Shrimp, Singapore Shrimp, and many other species would be perfect, and much more interesting than a fish that has no room to move. With some plants (fake or live), the shrimp will be a fascinating display Mainteance VERY low, especially if kept with some small snails … EDIT: Goldfish will reach more than a foot long, making it completely inappropriate for anything less than a tank of 75 gallons. When kept in smaller tanks, they become stunted, leading to an early death. : '(
